Introduction
Mysterious Coffee Corner is an interactive installation design project that implements "rich experience", a concept proposed by Desmet (2002) in “Design Emotion“, which involves negative and positive emotions. It was designed for the overstressed design students in survival mode and provided them with an interesting and relaxed experience while craving coffee to give them the extra push to make it to the end of the day.
Mysterious Coffee Corner is a multi-sensory experience that contains 4 different interactive elements, including a “dark cloud”, a “singing coffee pot”, a “do-not-move light" and a "reed windmill". The installation was temporarily showcased in a corner on the first floor of the IDE building of TU Delft during the ITD festival. Participants could intuitively walk into the Mysterious Coffee Corner and follow the path to explore different installation elements in this area, while grabbing a cup of coffee.
